International Study Tour

Students on the Architectural Technology programme are given the opportunity of participating in a 2/3 day international study tour in year two of the course.


Outline of Activity

The visits allow links to be made with universities internationally and provide students with the opportunity to view work and get an appreciation of the structure of architecture and architectural technology programmes in countries such as Spain, Germany and the Netherlands. Such visits provide students with the opportunity to experience some of the rich architectural fabric of famous cities and raise awareness of the nature and practice of architectural technology in the broader international context.

Learning Outcomes

  • Display an appreciation of the customs and traditions of the host country.
  • Compare and contrast the cultural and educational context.
  • Demonstrate competence in communication skills.
  • Show initiative, independence, self-reliance and self-discipline.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and through the spoken work with peers.
  • Reflect on the experience.

Assessment Details

A reflective log which includes photos and images should be submitted.

This should include an overview of the buildings visited and the history of the city.
