Belfast School of Art & Museums NI Exhibition Insight Programme

This seven-week programme has been developed for Art students to gain a unique insight into artist practices, contexts and exhibition curatorship in a range of professional settings.


Outline of Activity

The programme's activities for semester two 2018/19, will focus on the current Museums NI touring exhibition 'Troubles Art'.

Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to:

  • Assimilate and reflect upon experiences and knowledge of contexts of art practice in professional fields;
  • Accept responsibility for their active involvement in their learning;
  • Compile, collate and present visual and written material in an appropriate manner;
  • Present ideas and information in appropriate visual and written formats; and
  • Manage and plan their time and learning effectively for personal development.

Assessment Details

Each student will create a blog in which they will record and reflect on each week's activities throughout the programme.

  • Posts should include (where appropriate):
  • Reflective writing
  • Photographs
  • Films
  • GIFs
  • Digital artworks .

Each student's blog will be submitted for assessment on the Friday of week seven of the programme.

Level of Commitment

Students must:

Attend 6 x Wednesday afternoon sessions plus one full Wednesday for a bus trip to Derry

Complete an additional two-hours per week to complete blog posts for assessment

Submit for assessment their completed blog by 4pm on Friday of week seven of the programme.
