Leadership in Crisis, Disasters and Catastrophes

Year 3 nursing students are expected to respond to at least 4 scenarios related to crisis, disaster and/ or catastrophe. These scenarios are organised in partnership with the PSNI, Public Health Agency and Local Health Service Trust.

Learning Outcomes

  • Display leadership ability in crisis, disaster and catastrophic situations.
  • Develop personal resilience to cope with crisis, disaster and catastrophic situations.
  • Gain new confidence and self-awareness in relation to leadership in crisis, disaster and catastrophic situations.

Assessment Details

Participation should be recorded and verified by the organiser of the event or Mary Marren. Students should submit this account to Debbie Goode within 2 weeks of the final activity

Level of Commitment

Organisation, Preparation, Recording, Reflection: At least 15 hours

Participation and involvement in conference and disaster activity: At least 15 hours

Total: At least 30 hours
