Work Based Learning

This module looks at the increased emphasis on work-based learning and especially the importance of work experience. It will also look at how to record and reflect on it, as well as problem solving in the workplace. 


Outline of Activity

The need to upskill UK workers has put political and economic pressure on higher educational institutions to work collaboratively with employers to design and deliver programmes to meet future workforce needs. This module looks at the increased emphasis on work-based learning and especially the importance of work experience. It will also look at how to record and reflect on it, as well as problem solving in the workplace.

Learning Outcomes

  • Appreciate the importance of career ownership and the career planning process
  • Identify and articulate their own transferable skills and professional competencies
  • Adopt professional standards and behaviours in an online professional context
  • Develop a career management strategy in the context of labour market opportunities and challenges.

A digital story detailing the process of trying to solve/manage work-based problem.

Assessment and feedback managed using Blackboard Learn.
