University Officer Training Corps - Leadership in Practice

This certified course, is open to 1st & 2nd years of all subjects. It comprises of 6 modules consisting of a mix of interactive classroom based sessions and enjoyable practical exercises.

Outline of Activity

This course includes modules on Leadership, Followership, Positive Personal Impact, Communication, Planning & Effective Time Management.

Learning Outcomes

  • A good grounding in the principles, theories and application of leadership skills.
  • A good grounding in the principles and theories of followership.
  • A good grounding in the principles and theories of creating positive personal impact and how this impacts your career successes.
  • A good grounding in the principles and theories of communication.
  • A greater understanding of processes involved in different types of planning activities.
  • Developing and applying effective time management strategies.

Note: The next LiP programme will take place on 31st March-01st April. Bookings will available early 2020.

Assessment Details

After each module staff will help you to objectively review your performance, assist you to recognise and articulate your own strengths and identify any areas that you might like to further develop. The course is designed to give you, as an undergraduate, the relevant skills to help you in your time at university and also in any future workplace; thus increasing your employability.

Level of Commitment

Two days:

To include an overnight stay at Magilligan Training Camp, Point Road, Limavady, BT49 0LP.

This is two day residential course will run on 31st March and 01st April 2020.
