What Is Harmony Browse?
Harmony Browse is an enterprise-grade secure web browsing solution that integrates advanced security controls directly into internet access.
It is a background system that ensures users browsing is safe and secure.
It provides:
- Inline Threat Prevention – Actively inspects and blocks malware, phishing, and exploit attempts at the network and browser level.
- Content & URL Filtering – Enforces organizational browsing policies by classifying and controlling access to millions of web destinations in real time.
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP) – Stops accidental or intentional leakage of sensitive data through web channels.
- Remote Browser Isolation (RBI) – Executes high-risk browsing sessions in a virtual container, ensuring no malicious code reaches the endpoint.
Why Are We Deploying Harmony Browse?
The deployment of Harmony Browse supports three major objectives:

- Prevents exposure to harmful websites and online threats.
- Reduces risk of data breaches that could impact customer trust.

- Enforces company browsing policies.
- Meets regulatory and data protection obligations.
Enabling Productivity
- Provides a secure but seamless browsing experience.
- Allows customer service staff to access the resources they need without unnecessary restrictions.
What does this mean for you?
Day-to-day work should not be disrupted. Websites and tools required for your day-to-day work will remain accessible.
Users will be better protected. If a user accidentally clicks on a harmful link (e.g., in an email or chat), Harmony Browse will block it before any damage can occur.
You may notice access restrictions. Some non-business or high-risk sites may be blocked automatically. If you require access for a legitimate business reason, please contact the Service Desk with the blocked URL and the rationale for access.
Browsing activity is logged for compliance. This is standard practice and ensures transparency, security, and regulatory alignment.
What does Harmony Browse do?
Browser Extension
On most browsers the Harmony Browse extension appears in the top right-hand corner of the web browser. If you hover over the icon it will be labelled harmony Web Protection.
Field Scanning
Harmony Browse performs field entry scanning. You may notice the field in which you wish to enter data appears yellow for a brief second as the scan completes. This should not impact your ability to work on documents or webpages.
Web Flitering
When using search engines, you will notice green and yellow icons beside each website. Green flags the website as safe and amber the site has been blocked.
Should you require access to a specific website please contact the Service Desk and provide rationale for access.
Ulster domain sites have been whitelisted to ensure no impact to core services.
File Downloads
When downloading a file harmony browse will pop up on the browser and display the file being downloaded and scanned.
Once the scanning has completed and if no threats have been found the file will be released to the download files area.
Files that fail the scan will not be downloaded and will be flagged as malicious.
Corporate Password Reuse
Secure your Corporate Identity
To maintain the security and integrity of your corporate identity and safeguard corporate resources and platforms please ensure that your corporate password is only used for company-approved systems and services.
Using the same password on external sites increases the risk of credential compromise as some of these sites don't implement similar levels of cyber controls as Ulster University.
Corporate Password Reuse alert
In response to the following alert, adhering to the existing guidance in terms of password complexity etc.
Action required:
- Please change your corporate password immediately via the standard password change process.
- When using external websites or personal accounts, always use a unique password that is different from your corporate one.
Blocked access to a Website
If a webpage has been blocked by Harmony Browse you will see the alert below.
If you require access for a legitimate business reason, please contact the Service Desk with the blocked URL and the rationale for access.
Blocked access to a deceptive Website
If a website has been deemed as a Phishing website you will see the alert below.
Malicious files
If Harmony Browse detects a malicious file you will see one of the alerts below:.
