Preparing for Submission and Examination

Preparing to submit your dissertation for examination could be stressful if you are not aware of what is involved in the submission or if you feel unprepared for the viva. This session aims to outline the submission process, including  the forms that need to be completed with timelines and explanations, and will also cover thesis format requirements, including digital copyright, metadata and embargo restrictions.

In addition, the workshop will provide an overview of the final examination process from the oral examination and outcomes through to final submission requirements.

Learning objectives

By the end of this interactive workshop, we aim to:

*outline what needs to be done between notification of intention to submit and submission

*demystify the examination process and the viva, explain the possible outcomes and what happens next

*explore the viva from the perspectives of the Internal and External examiners, Chair and supervisors

* introduce and discuss a range of useful approaches to preparing for the examination,

*highlight resources which may be useful as you prepare for your viva.

Intended audience

PhD researchers who are close to thesis submission and/or examination.
