Course Description

The objective of this short course is to provide an overview of the European Union regulatory framework, specific legislation and controls on animal feed. The importance of the animal feed industry within the European Commission and the associated control mechanisms will be examined.

  • Animal feed industry within the EC
  • Regulatory framework for feed as part of the food chain
  • Marketing and legislation of feed
  • Types of feeds and substances subject to controls
  • Importance and extent of controls on animal feed
  • Role of voluntary initiatives developed by the animal feed industry to assist in compliance

Assessment

A multiple choice questionnaire will be offered to students as a tool for self-assessment of the acquired knowledge.
