This short course introduces participants to information technology and presentation skills relevant to the environmental manager/researcher.

Summary

Study Environmental Data Analysis at Ulster University in the United Kingdom.

This course will provide new and synthesise existing knowledge and skills necessary to understand and analyse environmental data. Statistics, environmental modelling, geographical information systems and presentation skills will all be taught and demonstrated. Participants will put this knowledge into action in the form of worked examples and assessments. Knowledge and evaluation techniques are provided in lectures, skills developed during worked examples and demonstrated by assessments.

About

This short course introduces participants to information technology and presentation skills relevant to the environmental manager/researcher. It aims to provide new and synthesise existing knowledge and skills necessary to understand and analyse environmental data. It also aims to provide opportunities for participants to develop, demonstrate and enhance their skills of presentation, decision-making and using GIS software. Statistics, environmental modelling, geographical information systems and presentation skills will all be taught and demonstrated. Participants will put this knowledge into action in the form of worked examples and assessments.

Assessment

100% Coursework – (1) Online Test (10%), (2) Database Exercise (25%), (3) Excel and Statistics Assessment (25%), (4) PowerPoint Presentation and Discussion (20%) and (5) Questionnaire Exercise (20%).

Attendance

This course is delivered online for 12 weeks with no on-campus attendance requirements starting 25 September 2017.

Entry requirements

Degree in Science or other relevant discipline.

English Language Requirements

International applicants whose first language is not English must meet the minimum English entrance requirements of the University, which is a minimum acceptable score for the British Council IELTS of 6.0 (with no contributing band of less than 5.5) or equivalent.
