Study Strategic Sports Marketing at Ulster University in the United Kingdom.

This short course provides participants with an opportunity to critically and conceptually engage with issues related to the strategic marketing of sports organisations. The course is designed to ensure the participants gain the underpinning knowledge and competencies to serve as managers in the fastest growing global industry of the 21st Century.

This course can be taken individually or combined over a period of time towards a Postgraduate Certificate of Professional Development

About this course

In this section


This course offers an application to the strategic marketing of sport organisations. Upon completion of this course, participants will have increased their understanding of both strategy and marketing and will be able to use a specific thinking tool for assessing the strategic options of a range of business ventures.

This course is aimed at those who are interested in learning or progressing their knowledge about the strategic marketing of sport. The strategy process and applications to sports marketing will be examined in detail with an aim of providing participants with a range of thinking tools to apply to their current or future practice. As such it is designed for participants wishing to specialise within the discipline of sport business, acquire vocationally related skills, develop a critical thinking approach to the existing knowledge base and reflect on contemporary developments in the field. The course is targeted at those currently working within or those who are interested in the field of sport management.

100% Coursework: (1) 3000 word marketing audit on a (small to medium sized) sports organisation of participant’s choice (50%) and (2) to be confirmed.


This course requires attendance on Wednesdays 2pm - 5pm during the 12 week semester (February to May) (with one three hour online session in place of attendance on Wednesday 1st March 2017).

Any undergraduate degree

English Language Requirements

International applicants whose first language is not English must meet the minimum English entrance requirements of the University, which is a minimum acceptable score for the British Council IELTS of 6.0 (with no contributing band of less than 5.5) or equivalent.
