The objective of this short course is to examine the way in which EU law on food safety is implemented at EU level. The impact of this on the application of the legislation at the level of the Member States, and on third countries exporting food, plants or animals to the EU will also be examined.

Content:

  • Law setting and implementation processes
  • Process of transposition of EU food law into national legislation
  • Regulatory committees system involved in implementing EU food legislation
  • Instruments used by the European Commission to monitor and enforce EU food law

Assessment

A multiple choice questionnaire will be offered to students as a tool for self-assessment of the acquired knowledge.
