This course is designed to introduce participants to the key concepts in business strategy. On successful completion of this short course, participants will have an in-depth knowledge of strategy, be able to conduct a strategic analysis of an organisation, its environment, and its future strategic options, understand the fundamentals of formulating an international strategy, appreciate some of the key issues associated with strategy implementation and critically evaluate current theory and practice on strategy.

This short course is designed to introduce participants to the key concepts in business strategy and to develop strategic awareness of the factors that contribute to successful business strategies in the context of the global economy.

On successful completion of this short course, participants will have an in-depth knowledge of strategy, be able to conduct a strategic analysis of an organisation, its environment, and its future strategic options, understand the fundamentals of formulating an international strategy, appreciate some of the key issues associated with strategy implementation and critically evaluate current theory and practice on strategy.

Assessment

100% Coursework – critical evaluation of strategy within an organisation, either of the participant’s choice or one selected by the teaching team. (1) Report (75%) -a 5000 word report to be submitted approximately 8 weeks following the short course and (2) Group contribution (25%) - each of the team members must include a ‘statement of my contribution’ outlining how they advanced the consultancy team’s efforts and what was learned from this exercise.

Entry requirements

Any undergraduate degree (2nd class honours and above). Applicants must also demonstrate 3+ years management/leadership experience.

English Language Requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the minimum English entrance requirements of the University and will need to provide recent evidence of this (certified within the last two years).

Most of our courses require a minimum English level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no band score under 5.5. Trinity ISE: Pass at level III also meets this requirement.
