This course aims to provide participants with an introduction to the financial issues and techniques involved in managerial decision-making.

Summary

The aim of the course is to provide participants with an introduction to the financial issues and techniques involved in managerial decision-making and control. Financial decisions and their implications are required to be considered by all organisations. The accounting function cannot be viewed in isolation from the other key functional areas of management and it is important therefore, that managers understand the integrative nature of financial decision making both at an operational and strategic level.

About

The aim of this course is to provide participants with an introduction to the financial issues and techniques involved in managerial decision-making and control. Financial decisions and their implications have to be considered by all organisations. The accounting function cannot be viewed in isolation from the other key functional areas of management and it is important therefore, that managers understand the integrative nature of financial decision making both at an operational and strategic level. The course will also aim to develop integrative, analytical, reflective and managerial decision-making skills.

This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in finding out more about financial management.

Assessment

100% coursework - (1) Group Assignment - participants will be required to work in groups to prepare a group assessment on the topic of analysis of financial statements. In addition, individuals within each group will be required to prepare an individual learning log, copies of which must be submitted with the group assignment (50%) and (2) Class Test - an in class test will be administrated on the final day. It will be 2 hours duration and participants are required to complete three questions (50%).

This course requires attendance on four full days from 9.30am to 4.30pm on the following dates:

Entry requirements

Any undergraduate degree.

English Language Requirements

Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the minimum English entrance requirements of the University and will need to provide recent evidence of this (certified within the last two years).

Most of our courses require a minimum English level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no band score under 5.5. Trinity ISE: Pass at level III also meets this requirement.
