The Applied Clinical Pharmacy programme will contextualise the clinical background and therapeutics of medical conditions, using real case histories from hospital inpatients. It is designed for overseas pharmacists and pharmacy students who wish to develop the clinical expertise needed to deliver enhanced pharmacy services adapted to their home countries.

About this course

In this section


Hospital pharmacy practice combines various clinical activities that pharmacists undertake such as patient counselling, medicines reconciliation, medicines optimisation, medication history taking and prescription monitoring. Overseas pharmacists and pharmacy students will develop clinical pharmacy skills, inquisitive and enquiring approaches to practice and pharmaceutical care delivery, critical thinking and appraisal skills, transferable skills for pharmaceutical care services in new settings and environments, and an international perspective on healthcare systems and health needs of different populations worldwide.

A full patient centred clinical pharmacy training opportunity will be offered that allows in depth learning in various therapeutic areas contextualised by real case history taking gathered from inpatient interviews.


100% coursework assessments, consisting of three peices of coursework.


This course commences on 12th August 2017 and ends 26th August 2017 on Coleraine Campus of Ulster University
