BSc (Hons) Sports and Exercise Sciences
Assistant Performance Analyst
Ulster University helped me achieve my current career success by...
introducing me to performance analysis which I knew was the career I wanted to be involved in.
Activities I was involved in at Ulster to enhance my employability
I took on a few coaching roles through Sports Outreach programmes and these helped develop personal attributes such as teamwork skills.
Placement was most beneficial to me as I worked as a performance analyst for Ulster Rugby working mainly with the senior team.
How placement enhanced my employability
Placement allowed me to become more employable as I developed the skills needed to work as a performance analyst. It also allowed me to develop a relationship with the coaches and staff within Ulster Rugby and from this I began my post which I am currently in.
Top 3 most significant steps on my career path so far
- The step from placement into a full time post as I was still completing final year.
- Once graduated taking on more work, allowing the job to become more demanding.
- Ultimately being involved in the teams prep and being there on match night in my eyes is significant week on week.
What would your advice to students be?

Throw yourself in at the deep end, take on challenging work as it will enhance your knowledge of the area.
