My Journey

  • Career Timeline

Activities I was involved in at Ulster to enhance my employability

Organising Events: e.g. Sports Tournaments, Christmas Party, Ma's and Da's, Formal.

Practicals and Additional Qualifications: e.g. Gym Instructors, Pool Life Guard and Coaching Badges.

Placement and work based learning within Sports Coaching and Development.

  • Career Timeline

    How placement enhanced my employability

I was employed as Games Promotion/Sports Development Officer for over a year. I was required to plan, deliver, manage and evaluate all coaching activities within the schools sector, underage clubs, summer camps and development squads. This opportunity provided the necessary " hands on" experience to develop my professional skills.

  • Career Timeline

Top 3 most significant steps on my career path so far

    1. Placement provided real world experiences and established links with potential employers within the educational and sports coaching sectors.
    2. Additional qualifications and CPD improved opportunities for employment and up-skilling within the competitive environment of sport and education.
    3. Deputy Head of School provided the management experience for career progression.

What would your advice to students be?

Volunteering: gain as much " hands-on" and real-world experiences as you can.
