Activities I was involved in at Ulster to enhance my employability
Through Ulster I had the opportunity to coach soccer in America for 3 months.
Through Ulster I had the opportunity to work part time with Manchester United Soccer Schools.
Through Ulster I developed an interest in Africa, travelling to Kenya & Uganda on 4 separate occasions since graduating. I have an elite running camp at altitude in Kenya.
How placement enhanced my employability
Through my work experiences abroad I became more confident in my own ability when attending job interviews. I was also more experienced when going for full time employment roles after graduation.
Top 3 most significant steps on my career path so far
- Getting the opportunity to travel aboard for work for the first time coaching in the USA.
- Working full-time at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
- Working full time at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games as a Venue Operations Manager.
What would your advice to students be?
Be ambitious and pursue " the big roles" .
It’s OK to make mistakes, just learn from them as quickly as possible. The most successful people are the people who learn quickest from their mistakes!
