UU Virtual Fairs
Information on getting started and support is available below.
Make the most of your virtual stand
It is important to use your company profile page on the Handshake platform to present your organisation and opportunities clearly and creatively, this is your virtual stand on the day! You may wish to attach video links to your company profile in the attachments section.
Students will receive session recommendations and will be able to easily review employers based on their interests. You should prompt students in your messaging to follow your company profile for updates on opportunities and other events you may be hosting.
Students are encouraged to create a personal schedule so that they use their time effectively, researching organisations beforehand and on the day. Registrations for sessions can occur up to the session start time, remember to refresh your screen to see registrations.
You can schedule Group Sessions and/or 1-1 Sessions to reach students on the day, Group sessions are 30-minute slots, and 1-1 sessions are 10-minute slots. We recommend you host a maximum of two group sessions, allocating 20 minutes with time at end for questions and use 2-3 people to talk about the benefits of working with you and the overall company culture. Your sessions should be created before 12 October 2022.
Get your event team ready
Now that your booking is approved you will need to create your initial schedule for your company profile in Handshake (your virtual stand). Once the schedule has been created, your teammates will be able to claim their schedules by clicking the link in the email sent, or they can login to Handshake, navigate to the UU fair, then click on the Schedules tab to claim their schedule.
Please ensure your team test the Handshake Video facility before the day of the Fair. It is important that your device audio/visual settings are tested on Handshake to avoid any technical disruptions on the day of the fair.
Get your Opportunities noticed
We ask you to upload your opportunities to the Handshake platform before 12 October 2022. Information on uploading is located at Posting Jobs to Handshake
Interacting with our students on the day
Employers will not be able to invite students directly to their sessions - students will be responsible for signing up for all sessions. The sooner your teammates can claim their schedules, the better, as this enables students to see more options for signup.
How our students are preparing
Our promotional campaign for ‘Autumn Fairs & Events’ will be launched to students at the start of new term, 26 September 2022. All students will be invited to participate in a programme of employer events and skills boosting activities from virtual and in person fairs, placements and graduate opportunities, careers advice and industry experts.
A bespoke website and communication campaign will showcase opportunities not to be missed.
Students will be supported to create a profile in Handshake, register for events, view each company’s virtual stand and the opportunities in Handshake, and sign up for group and/or 1-1 sessions.
