Sazeracs / Music@ONE
About the band:
The Sazeracs are a band consisting of Linley Hamilton on trumpet, Kyron Bourke on vocals / piano and Steve Davis on drums. Each member of the band boasts years of experience playing in an eclectic mix of bands ranging across genres. The main premise of this project is to breathe new life in to some classic songs from the New American songbook by adding their own unique Jazz interpretation of songs from the like of Paul Simon, Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed. The Sazeracs have a unique approach to the material they play, with melodic referencing and intricate arrangements making this one of the more popular festival bands around.
Kyron is vocalist, pianist, bass player and songwriter. His voice and style of delivery have been compared to Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits and his enigmatic charm and passion for performing are infectious and the driving force for the whole concept.
Dr. Linley Hamilton:
Linley is a staple in the Northern Ireland Jazz scene, boasting a long and eclectic career, he’s played with Northern Ireland’s finest including Van Morrison, Paul Brady, Foy Vance and Dana Masters. When he’s not playing trumpet, you can tune in to his BBC Radio Ulster show ‘Jazz World with Linley Hamilton’, or of course, lecturing at UU Magee, where great music happens…
Dr. Steve Davis:
Steve is our drummer, and the beating heart of our rhythm section. Steve has had a long and varied career playing jazz drums with an eclectic mix of performers and groups. You can also catch him as drummer for BourneDavisKane and Alexander Hawkins, as well as volunteering for various educational programmes and delivering guest lectures all around the U.K and Ireland.
