Eamon Mullan is a graduate in business studies, rural development and literature. His career has spanned the public, private and Higher Education, spending a number of years in Whitehall during the Thatcher years.
He played a significant role in the establishment of the Northern Ireland Legal Services Commission in 2003, including drafting aspects of the legislation. He acted as secretary to the first Commission, before moving to Ulster University in 2004 as Head of Governance Services.
He is currently a member of the board of the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools, chairing its Audit Committee. He has previously been a board member of the Local Government Staff Commission, the Northern Ireland Housing Council, the Local Government Officers Superannuation Committee and the NI Rent Assessment panel. He was appointed as University Secretary and the Office of the University Secretary came into existence in May 2012.
The department is responsible for the functions relating to general legal affairs, corporate governance, HE Policy, ceremonial duties, data protection, university secretariat duties, strategic planning, equality and diversity, freedom of information and child protection.
