Leo Galway joined the School of Computing & Mathematics as a Research Associate within the Smart Environment Research Group in 2010, and was appointed Lecturer in Computer Science in 2012. His research interests include Brain-Computer Interfaces, Affective Computing, Machine Learning and Ubiquitous Computing.
Leo is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His current role has kept him occupied with a range of pedagogic activities for over 3 years, which are complemented by periodic forays into research. Prior to this, Leo carried out post doctorial research on a number of Pervasive Healthcare projects. Having previously worked as a system-level software engineer after completion of his undergraduate degree in Computer Science at Queen's University, Belfast, Leo returned to academia in 2004 after almost seven years of employment within the software industry in order to undertake a Masters in Computing & Intelligent Systems at Ulster University. Upon receiving an MSc with Distinction, he continued his research training with Ulster University, and was successfully awarded his PhD from the School of Computing & Information Engineering in 2009.
Leo has been a member of the IEEE for over ten years, and is currently a member of the Association for the Advancement of Affective Computing. He currently has an IFPA World Pinball Player Ranking of 5294.
