Title of Project: Reformation and Transformation in the Changing State: A Model of Institutional Change for Transitional Justice
Start date: 2011
Elizabeth Super's thesis examines institutional change as it relates to transitional justice, human rights and the rule of law. It explores agents for, and mechanisms of, institutional change in post-conflict and post-authoritarian states and offers a theory of institutional change for transitional justice. The thesis uses large-N databases to examine the role of ombudsmans' offices and vetting and lustration processes in addressing the rule of law and human rights in transitional states. Prior to her work at the Transitional Justice Institute, Elizabeth received her juris doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, USA, where she focused on human rights and international law. She is qualified to practise law at the Minnesota Bar.
