Title of Project: Socio-legal transformation of the definition of victimin Northern Ireland and the Basque Country

Amaia Alvarez is studying the concept of transitional justice within formal democracies through the comparative analysis of Northern Ireland and the Basque Country. She gained a BA in Journalism in 2007 (University of Navarre, Spain) and worked in several newspapers in the areas of society and politics. She also worked as Irish freelance correspondent and volunteered with several human rights NGOs before starting her PhD. She holds a MA in Human Rights (University of the Basque Country) and an LLM in Human Rights Law and Transitional Justice (Ulster University).
