Student Connect Peer Mentoring Webinar for First Year Undergraduates

Starting out at university can be daunting and you might be reluctant to ask for advice or help, so  like to draw your attention to an excellent support mechanism we offer to first year students, Student Connect Peer Mentoring.

What is Student Connect Peer Mentoring?

  • A free online service for all first year students offering a safe space to chat and receive confidential support.
  • Get help on demand from another Ulster student, 11am-11pm.
  • Access one-to-one online support from a trained Ulster University Student Mentor who can talk you through assignment and exam queries, offer general advice on university life and signpost where you can access further support resources.

How do I contact a mentor?

  1. Activate your free Student Connect Peer Mentoring account by clicking on the button below or via the Student Connect tile within the Student Portal.

    Activate your free account

  2. When you log in, click on the ‘Connect to a Mentor’ button to begin your mentoring session.

It’s an online service so instead of face to face meetings you’ll chat with your mentor online – you can turn your camera off and do a voice call only, or you can just speak via text if that’s what you’d prefer. The choice is yours.

  3. Tune in to our webinar where you can get more information on the benefits of the peer mentoring service and how you can avail of it:

When: 2pm, Wednesday 19 October

Where: Online

In the meantime you can watch our short videos which give excellent overviews of the programme:

Our peer mentors are ready to advise and support you through your first year.

Remember this is support for anything you need help with; settling in to university life, making friends, study tips, navigating your course and assessments, how to access further support for mental health and wellbeing – there are no silly questions!
