Winter Graduations Close at University of Ulster

The University of Ulster’s Winter Graduation ceremonies closed today with two ceremonies being held at the Jordanstown campus. Degrees and diplomas were presented to students from the University’s Jordanstown and Belfast campuses at today’s two ceremonies. In the morning, students from the Faculty of Art, Design and the Built Environment and the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences received awards at undergraduate and postgraduate level. At the morning ceremony, the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) was conferred on Gerard Burns and Roy Archibald Joseph Spence. Both these distinguished public servants recently stepped down from the role of Pro-Chancellors of the University. Mr Burns also served as Chairman of the University Council. They received their honorary degrees in recognition of their service to the University. In the afternoon, students from the Faculty of Arts and the Ulster Business School received awards at undergraduate and postgraduate level. In addition, the accolade of First Trust Bank/University of Ulster Distinguished Graduate Award 2009-10 was conferred on Mr John McMullan Today’s ceremonies conclude the University of Ulster’s Winter Graduation series.
