Terry Quigley


Overview

Terry holds a BA Hons Visual Communication and MSc Computing & Design, both from Ulster University. He is Senior Fellow of HEA, Fellow of CHERP (Centre of Higher Education and Research Practice), and Member of IDI. Prior to joining UU (Ulster University), he worked as a Graphic Designer in Telecoms and Broadcast industries, developing international award-winning visualisation software. He has collaborated with clients such as BBC and Riverdance.

Terry delivers teaching & learning on BDes Graphic Design & Illustration and MA UX & Service Design, and is Placement Coordinator for BDes Graphic Design. He has previously held positions of Course Director BDes Design, and BSc Creative Technologies. From 2013-16, he was Discipline Lead working with HEA on National What Works? Programme. As an external, he was a member of Validation panels at LYIT for UG & PG courses, BA 3D Modelling & Animation, PGDip & MA Arts UX Design & Applied Innovation.

Since 2007, Terry has provided design led consultancy for Innovation Ulster via programmes such as Innovation Voucher, Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) and FUSION. This has included multi agency research projects in collaboration with Innovate UK, Intertrade Ireland, NI Health Trusts and HEA. He has co-authored a case study for National Centre for Universities & Business on importance of employability in curriculum, which he presented at Confederation of British Industry (CBI) conference.

His research activity reflects a diverse range of interdisciplinary collaborations resulting in several international publications and conference presentations. He authored a case study for UU & HEA on effective practice which was presented at European First Year Experience conference. Terry is currently undertaking a PhD exploring graphic design pedagogy in the context of creative industries.

Terry was recognised with The Faculty of Arts Academic Enterprise Fellowship Award for ‘outstanding accomplishments of Arts staff in interaction with, and support of, business, the community and social enterprise activities’.
