Overview

Dr Mark Bailey is the Course and Subject Director of economics at Ulster University.

He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and teaches a variety of modules in the areas of applied microeconomics, business strategy and quantitative methods.

Mark studied economics at Coventry University where he got his BA and PhD and taught there until 2000 when he joined Ulster University.

In 2007, Mark was the representative for the CCEA examining body on the reviewing panel of the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority for the new GCE ‘A’-level specifications for economics.

His research interests are in applied business economics (applying tools of economic and microeconometric analysis to explain market behaviour in markets such as labour, education, health and energy) and historical business economics (primarily the economic rationale of regulation in 19th century Britain, particularly railway regulation).
