Introduction to the Office of the University Secretary

Welcome to the Office of the University Secretary Home Page. The Office of the University Secretary came into existence in May 2012. The department is responsible for the functions relating to general legal affairs, ceremonial duties, data protection, university secretariat duties, strategic and operational planning, equality and diversity, freedom of information and child protection.

Legal Services (including e-version of the University's Charter, Statutes, Ordinances & Regulations)


Provides legal advice to the University on the wide range of issues of administrative law and undertakes strategic analysis to identify key priority areas for the University.	Develops and implements a wide range of policies and procedures in support of the University's statutory obligations, including Equality & Diversity matters. Provides advice to the University Secretary, Senior Management & Council on governance policy developments and service priorities.	Provides an administrative advice service to the University’s Council and its committees and acts as the independent Secretary to the Visitor of the University.
