What is RSS?
RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication. It is an easy way for you to keep up to date with web content without having to manually check for new articles on your favourite sites. RSS technology is becoming more common, especially in news driven websites such as BBC News and the Daily Telegraph.
The University of Ulster is pleased to announce that it is providing a RSS feed of news articles published by the Press Office. RSS feeds contain the release's headline, a link to the full article and a summary of the news release. In addition to the news feed, also provided is a feed of current job vacancies and a list of upcoming events.
Making Use of RSS
RSS feeds can be read using specialised programs called feed aggregators or news readers. Some web browsers even have the facility to subscribe to a feed and list articles. Software is available to download from the developers' sites.
