Notes for Academic Staff in Life and Health Sciences
These notes have now been thoroughly revised and updated.
You can access them at:

http://library.ulster.ac.uk/sci/staff/

They contain a summary of library-related information, particularly useful for new academic staff. Please draw them to the attention of your new colleagues. Existing staff may also find something of interest.

Electronic resources – new developments
Nutrition Abstracts and Reviews is now available online. It was previously available in print format in Coleraine only. It is a fully searchable abstract database covering the latest information on all issues related to food and health – from food composition and safety to obesity, parenteral nutrition and allergies. It is available from on-campus only.

Bristol Biomedical Image Archive is a new free resource. It is an online collection of about 8,000 medical, dental, and veterinary images for use in learning, teaching and research. All the images have been donated by academics working in the biomedical fields in different countries. It uses Athens usernames and passwords and is available both on- and off-campus.

Encyclopedia of Human Nutrition (2nd edition, 2006) will shortly be available online. This will replace the first edition. It also uses Athens passwords and is available on- and off-campus. All of these can be accessed in the usual way from the library’s list of databases.
