The new databases AIP (American Institute of Physics) and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineering) that were requested by NIBEC and NRI are now live. Along with some other individual journals, these additions will raise the library profile within this prestigious research centre.

The E-Learning Best Practice Conference was held by the Faculty of Engineering’s E-learning consortium on the 10 January 2006. Mick Carragher gave a paper on ‘Electronic resources in the Library’. This was well received by all the delegates at the conference.

The Library Engineering Team will be giving two library seminars in Jordanstown and Coleraine for the Schools of
Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Computing and Information Software on the 20 and 22 February respectively. This follows on from the very successful seminar held in Magee in December for the School of Intelligent Systems.

In the recent Built Environment validations, the external examiners commended the Library as an example of ‘best
practice’. They commented that it was one of the best virtual libraries they had seen!
