Collaborative and Innovative Developments at the Belfast Campus

Our last issue carried a feature article on “teaching and learning” provision, highlighting the substantial investments in new technologies. IT User Services works closely with Physical Resources to ensure that environmental aspects of teaching space are addressed. In the past year, investments by Physical Resources, amounted to around £1.5m.

"Physical Resources plays a significant part in collaboration projects with ITUS. We are responsible for major re-fits of accommodation and have invested substantially in space redesigns into which our ITUS colleagues have installed modern technology services.”

Mervyn Watley, Head of Development and Planning, PRD

Physical Resources has the lead responsibility in the redevelopment of the Belfast campus. Details are available on
the PRD website at:

http://intranet.ulster.ac.uk/phyres/estates/capitalworks.html

The effective collaboration between Information Services and Physical Resources is set to yield three facilities at the Belfast campus:

  •  new, 150-seat, IT facility will be introduced ahead of schedule
  •  a new 215-seat lecture theatre
  •  four, modern teaching/seminar rooms (with fixed digital projection systems)

These facilities should be operational by October 2006 and will be enjoyed by our student community at Belfast for many years to come!
