Windows 2000 Pilot and Related Software Implications

IT User Services is piloting the use of Windows 2000 as the standard operating system for the student Common Desktop Environment (CDE). The pilot is taking place on the Coleraine campus and rollout to all campuses will take place ahead of the next academic year (2003/4).

Academic staff are requested to ensure that subject specific software that they will require for teaching is compatible with Windows 2000. IT User Services will be conducting its annual review of the student desktop during April. Early notification of new software installation requirements, upgrades and not least, identification of software requiring de-installation, would be appreciated.
