MIS
The
MIS strategy aims to provide end users with web-based interfaces to the
majority of our corporate systems. Current web-based projects under
development or in implementation are:
Finance
A Mileage Claims system has
been introduced in administrative areas and is currently being rolled out
to faculties. This will be followed by a similar system for prior approval
and payment of expense claims and a system for overtime claims. The Fixed
Asset Register (FAR) system has been redesigned to provide web-based input
by users and to use Impromptu Web Reports for reporting. Impromptu Web
Reports has been introduced for budget holders to facilitate the
production of budgetary information.
Student Systems
Examination marks are
accessed by students through a web interface and it is anticipated that
further developments will lead to most paper-based communication with
students being replaced by web-based systems. It is planned to introduce a
system for on-line self-enrolment at the start of the next academic year.
Academic staff have been provided with a web-based student enquiry system
which enables them to produce course and module lists and to enquire on
the details of individual students.
Human Resources
A system is under
development, which will provide web-based processing of recruitment
requisitions from initiation of a request through to the approval stage
and action by Human Resources.
Catering Services
A web-based system is
being developed to facilitate the process of requesting catering services.
