Teaching and Learning Support Services
Over the past five years, Information Services has
invested £1.5 million in service provision to support teaching and learning
within the University. This investment has changed the way that teaching
staff interact with their students.
Audio-visual Systems in Teaching Areas
Did you know that we have now have fixed projection systems and networked
computers in almost 140 rooms across our campuses?
We have achieved our target of having around 50% of all centrally-managed
teaching space with this level of technology provision.
Student Workstations
We support approximately 1400 casual use student desktops located in over 20
IT laboratories, our two Learning Resource Centres and Library areas.
Student Printing
Over 2.5 million pages are printed within our workstation areas annually.
The proceeds are re-invested each year,
allowing the department to develop a programme of continuous improvement to
the service.
Video-conference facilities teaching large groups
The lecture theatres equipped with video-conference facilities can cater for
up to 1200 students across the University
The Benefits to Research of the video-conference facilities
“Recognised research groups within the School of Nursing find the
videoconference facilities invaluable with regard to time and cost savings.
For these important projects, this releases much needed money to be spent on
other things.”
Professor Jenny Boore, School of Nursing
