Joint Library/IT induction sessions
The joint Library/IT induction programme for first-year
students has just concluded for this semester. This programme is delivered
across all campuses and lasts between three to five weeks. The sessions, in
the form of presentations by the Library and IT User Services, are arranged
by Course Directors via our Induction Co-ordinator. This liaison with
teaching staff is vital in ensuring attendance. Feedback from students
indicates that they found them a useful introduction to basic library and IT
skills. ‘Quick Guides’ to Library and IT services were provided and a new
series of ‘How to…’ guides was introduced.
The participation rate increased on most campuses, particularly Coleraine.
The drop at Jordanstown may reflect an
uptake in subject classes during the first week of term. This will be
reviewed by the Library ahead of next year’s programme. The figures do not
include subject-based classes and workshops, which provide a focused
approach based on subject resources relevant to each course or research
interest.
Both induction and subject-based sessions may be provided at anytime
throughout the year and can be tailored to your requirements. Please contact
either the Customer Support Librarians or Subject Librarians for further
information.
