Denis Loughran retired on 31 May 2004 after a career of 31 years with the University. He joined the Ulster College in September 1972 after seven years working with Marconi, where he was a radio officer and a marine radio engineer. As a senior technician associated initially with CCTV, Denis played an active part in many audio-visual developments, as well as being responsible for other services including graphics design, photography, TV and video production work and media support to many conferences and other prestigious events. He was also a regular member of University Council.

A retirement presentation took place in the Lochview Suite, Jordanstown to acknowledge Denis’ contributions to the institute. We all sincerely wish Denis, and his wife Mary, all the very best for a long, happy and active future.
