Information Services Newsletter A new service has been introduced for the central
dissemination of information to staff and
students of the University via e-mail. ISD controls a number of ‘bulk’
distribution lists that allow
messages to be targeted at large groups such as ‘All Staff’. Messages to
large groups such as
this require authorization from a Dean or Head Of Department. The message
should be sent,
along with the authorization, to the Helpdesk which will distribute the
message on the user’s The list service is also a tool available to any University staff member wishing to set up private lists to facilitate communication between groups of staff and/or students within the University and beyond. Lists must be used strictly for academic purposes and conform to the University’s Acceptable Computer Use Policy. Private lists are maintained and managed by individual nominated staff members via a convenient secure web-interface. There are some restrictions placed on private lists.
