TRIP Plus: turning Research into Practice. A new evidence-based healthcare database

The Library has recently subscribed to TRIP Plus. “The TRIP Database started in 1997 as a small search engine with a focus on medical articles considered evidence-based. Since then it has grown significantly in terms of ease of use, coverage and popularity. The aims of the TRIP Database have remained the same since 1997 - allow health professionals to easily find the highest-quality material available on the web. The TRIP Database is increasingly looking and feeling like a mainstream search engine (such as Google or Yahoo) as this is what users are comfortable and familiar with. With our high-quality content and ease of use the TRIP Database is probably the leading clinical search tool. The content of the site is reviewed monthly and new material from the publications covered is added to the site. Typically 300-400 new articles are added monthly.” TRIP Plus can be accessed from the library’s EIS page at:

http://www.ulster.ac.uk/library/electronic/

and you can use your Athens username and password to access it from off-campus. TRIP Plus will complement the Cochrane Library which is already well-known for its database of systematic reviews.

British Pharmacopoeia

“The most up-to-date and authoritative resource on standards for medicinal substances and pharmaceutical products in the UK” is now available online on-campus. No password is needed. It includes the August 2004 data and will be updated regularly. This service can also be accessed from the library’s EIS page at:
