Better access to Abstracts and Indexes online We can now provide more comprehensive online access to Engineering Abstracts and Indexes. Online access provides the ability to search and access information from your own desktop. As a result of this, a number of Engineering Abstracts and Indexes in paper format were weeded
from the library stock during the summer months. There are very few of them left in paper form and this is an indication of how online bibliographic and full text databases have come to replace them as sources of research literature.

New Databases

It now seems likely that the databases, which were requested by the schools earlier in the year, will be acquired by the Library. Just to remind you these were:

    IEL – which is the complete works of the IEEE and IEE that includes the Transactions and Proceedings of the
    IEEE.

   Computing Reviews – we already get this as an Abstract but now it will come as an online database. This
   database has more than 1000 reviewers and 19 editors to select and review books and articles in computer
   science literature.

   Aqualine – we get this also as an Abstract but will now come as an online database. This database covers
   scientific and technical literature on water, wastewater, associated engineering services and the aquatic
   environment.

   LocalawUK – is an online legal research service in the area of Local Government. Some of the modules
   available  include: Planning, Housing, Environmental Health, Road Traffic, Highways.
