Social Science CD-ROMs

Whilst the vast majority of database services the library subscribes to are available via the Internet, a number of them are not and exist as individual CD-ROMS or as Stand Alone CD-ROMS. A complete list of the Stand Alone CD-ROMS is available at;

 Here you will find Title, Location and Coverage details of all the listed CDs. Each one of the CDs is based on a particular campus and should in the first instance be used on that site. You will have to go to the Issue/Information desk and ask for the CD in question and then take it to a designated machine. Library staff will be happy to assist you.

• Employment Law (Jord)

An overview of employment law.

• Encyclopedia of World Cultures (Magee)

This offers information on over 1500 cultural groups covering interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, historical, social, political, economical, and religious information on all.

• Europe (Jord)

Background details on the EC and its formation.

• Europe from A to Z (Col)

This CD looks at the main themes, concepts and facts surrounding the European Union.

• Hansard Commons (Col)

A complete record of all proceedings in the House of Commons since 1992.

• Higher Education and Research Institutions (EUROMECUM) ( Col)

A guide to Higher Education and Research Institutions in Europe. This database provides descriptions of the Institutes, their specialities and their research priorities.

• Introduction to Marketing (Jord)

 A collection of ten CDs covering the main principles of marketing.

• National Audit Office Reports (Jord)

This contains all NAO, PAC and UK Treasury Reports from 1969 up to 1997.

• OECD Health Data 1960-98 (Jord)

Offers comparative analysis of health statistics among thirty OECD countries. It covers health care resources, utilization, expenditure and finance.
