Information Services Newsletter The University has recently been granted funding from the JISC under the 'Linking Digital Libraries with VLEs' programme to further develop the work undertaken by ISD, in collaboration with the Institute of Lifelong Learning, in 2001/2. The Library's efforts to build up a critical mass of online reading lists has resulted in the provision of approximately 200 online resource lists across a number of Faculties. Preliminary investigations into integrating our Library and VLE systems have successfully demonstrated the ability to offer users seamless access to selected password-protected learning resources from WebCT, via the Library's reading list management system, TalisList. The JISC-funded '4i Project' (Interoperable, Institutional, Integrated Implementation) aims to build on last year's success and move forward with the rollout of TalisList, and its integration with our institutional VLE, WebCT. Project outcomes will be of interest to the HE community in general and our staff and students will directly benefit from the improved service it enables us to offer. Full cooperation from academics regarding the timely submission of reading lists to the Library is essential in order to realise these benefits and all module coordinators are invited to submit lists to their Subject Librarian as soon as possible. Guidelines on compiling module resource lists are available at http://library.ulster.ac.uk/talislist/reslist.pdf. Links to the range of lists published for each School are available from the Library's Faculty web pages, as in this example for the School of Computing and Information Engineering.
