Information Services Newsletter Video Conferencing Studio Enhancements As part of our on-going programme of Videoconferencing Studio enhancement, IT User Services has recently installed a PC into each of the suites at Belfast, Coleraine, Jordanstown and Magee College. These computers are connected to the CODECs in each of the rooms and allow Powerpoint presentations to be broadcast as graphical support material for classes and administrative meetings. Proper use of Powerpoint presentations should enhance the visual quality of the support material and improve the videoconferencing experience. We are also looking at other uses for the PC's, such as application/document sharing. IT User Services technical support staff can offer demonstrations of the technology, or training in its use. Training sessions can be arranged by phoning the videoconferencing support point on 4247. To enhance the quality of training and to help our users stay up-to-date with technological developments, we are currently working with the Staff Development Unit on the production of a modular training course aimed at all levels of user of the Videoconferencing Service. IT User Services are committed to a programme of improvement in the videoconferencing service and will advise of future developments as they arise. David Simpson
