Media Training

ICT Customer Services (ICTCS), organise and facilitates a range of training opportunities, online and face-to-face, over the course of each semester. At the start of the academic year, new students are provided with inductions in the use of the University's IT systems, online resources such as the Library catalogue, and procedures for accessing their new email. In addition, ICTCS provide a student guide booklet (also available as a PDF document which can be downloaded here). A new staff guide is currently in development and will be available from the ICTCS website for download. There are also a series of short 'How To' videos on the help section of the University Portal which have been created in collaboration with ICTCS staff. These videos will show you how to use the new online mileage system, and how to use the features within the Portal to customise it for your own requirements.

ICT Customer Services host a series of annual training sessions on each of the University's campuses to familiarise academic staff with new technologies and provide a refresher in the use of the various facilities in central teaching rooms. There are several sessions on each campus, and these events normally take place in September in preparation for the new semester. The sessions are presented in the main lecture theatres on each campus, and will be presented by our technical support staff, so you can get the opportunity to see the equipment and discuss our support with the people who will help you over the course of the semester.

A series of Educational Technology seminars take place each semester to highlight new and innovative uses of technology by academic staff within the University. These seminars are organised and hosted by staff from ICTCS and Access & Distance Learning (ADL), and comprise a presentation by the academic who has been using the new technology, or a workshop to give others the opportunity to try out the technology for themselves.

ICT Customer Services also comprises a Services Improvements Team, whose role is to improve and enhance the technology and service offered to academic staff. For more information, contact Dr. Kenny Mc Cartan, Project Coordinator (Technology Adoption).
