Configuration Difficulties FAQ

Use of Laptops in Wireless Zones and Open Access Centres

Wireless signal detected but no login page appears

Check your Dial-up connection settings.
Your system may be configured to use the dial-up connection as the default service. To change this:
Start up Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Connections.  
Select and apply: "Dial whenever a network connection is not present".

Temporarily disable any proxies set in your browser.
In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings button.

Make a careful note of any current settings /values before you Untick the checkboxes marked:

  • Automatically detect settings

  • Use configuration scripts

  • Use a proxy server for your LAN
