Configuring a Laptop
for Wireless Access Wireless Access The wireless network is a University of Ulster facility. A valid University user with a wireless-capable device will be able to authenticate to the University’s network and use wireless services via any of the designated Wireless zones on each campus. Please refer to Network Access Locations around the University for current details and ensure that you are familiar with the Terms and Conditions for Laptop Use. Wireless Network Logon details Your logon details (username + password) that you need to connect to the Wireless Network, are as follows:

Configuring XP for Wireless Networking The following Windows XP setup notes describe how to configure a laptop running Microsoft Windows XP for Wireless Networking.
Authentication and Connection to the Wireless Network After checking your laptop’s network configuration (above), open up a web browser window (e.g. Internet Explorer). The laptop will establish a connection with the Wireless Access controller and after a short delay, an authentication process will ask for login details. Enter your Username and Password (as stated above) to authenticate yourself to the University Network. Connection Difficulties FAQ Due to differences in hardware and software configurations between various laptop systems, difficulties can be encountered in establishing a connection to the network.
