Appendix 1

DHCP Configuration

The following procedure instructs on how to configure a PC to obtain an IP address from a DHCP server. 

Windows Vista

  1. Click on Start/Control Panel
  2. Under "Network and Internet" select "View network status and Tasks"
  3. In the "Tasks" section select "Manage network connections"
  4. Double click on the Wireless Network Connection icon
  5. Click on the “Properties” button
  6. Highlight the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
  7. Click on the “Properties" tab
  8. Click on the "Obtain an IP address automatically" button
  9. Click on the "Obtain DNS Server address automatically" button
  10. Click "OK" to exit "Internet Protocol TCP/IP Properties"
  11. Click on "OK" to exit "Wireless Network Connections Properties"
  12. Click on "Close" to exit "Wireless Network Connections Status"
  13. Close the "Network Connections Window"

Windows XP 

  1. Open the Network Connections
      -  Click on Start/Control Panel
      -  Click on  Network  Connections
  2. Double click on the Local Area Connection icon
  3. Click on the “Properties” tab
  4. Highlight the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
  5. Click on the “Properties” tab
  6. Click on the “Obtain an IP address automatically” button
  7. Click on the “Obtain DNS Server address automatically” button
  8. Click “OK” to exit “Internet Protocol TCP/IP Properties”
  9. Click on “OK” to exit “Local area Connections Properties”
  10. Click on “Close” to exit “Local area Connections Status”
  11. Close the “Local area Connections Window”
