Provision of Subject Enquiry Service

Academic staff and students who have specific queries relating to their subject area should contact the subject librarian supporting the Faculty on their campus. Contact may be made in person at the Library Information Desk, by email, phone or through use of the online enquiry form. On those occasions when the relevant subject librarian is not available, a member of another subject team will deal with the query and, depending on the nature of the query; it may need to be referred to the appropriate Faculty Librarian based on another campus. Outside of office hours, there will usually be a qualified librarian available to answer queries at the Library Information Desk. If these queries are complex, they will be provided within 3 working days.

Complex subject queries are answered by library staff who have the relevant subject expertise and who are best placed to answer queries with full knowledge of the information sources available.

Subject queries will be dealt with at all times that the Library is open. During office hours, this assistance will be provided by a member of the Faculty Subject Team. In the evening and at weekends, a qualified librarian will usually be available to answer the query. Outside of office hours, staff and students may also submit their subject queries by email or voicemail to any member of their subject team with an expectation that a response will be provided by the next working day or, at most, within 3 working days.
