Managed Staff Desktop (MSD)

Service Description

Information Services provides a ‘common user desktop image’ built upon a standardised operating system and a set of core applications with further access to corporate applications as required. This standardised approach is referred to as the “Managed Staff Desktop” - MSD programme.

To become an MSD user you will need:

  • A University network account
  • A networked desktop PC or laptop capable of running Windows 7 Enterprise
  • An applications profile configured to University Desktop Standards

The MSD service is supported via the ISD Service Desk and established user desktop support processes. ICT Customer Services campus teams administer deployment and troubleshooting activities.

How to obtain help

Help is arranged via the ISD Service Desk which provides a first point of contact for all queries via telephone and email during normal working hours*. Messages may be left at any time using the Voicemail facility.

Who can avail of the service?

Administrative departments wishing to join the MSD scheme should contact the ISD Service Desk who will arrange a consultation with a Campus ICT Manager.
