Students and Staff of the University of Ulster can request books, theses, articles and other media that are not stocked or already made available electronically by the University of Ulster Library Service. Only fully registered staff and students of the University may use the Document Delivery service. There are weekly limits on the number of items that can be requested, depending on type of borrower. Detailed information can be found at: http://library.ulster.ac.uk/documentdelivery/ |

Business Process |
The service offers our borrowers access to a collection of materials -
books, articles and other items - that is much wider than the collection of
the University of Ulster Library. This will particularly benefit research
and more advanced study. Requests can be made at any time via online form or
by paper form. These requests are processed as soon as possible during
normal library opening hours. The length of time it takes for requests to be
fulfilled depends on the external body supplying the material to us. There are limits on the number of requests that can be made by each borrower each week. Some items - books or theses - may have restrictions placed on their use because of their rarity, value or because of copyright issues - i.e. borrowers may only be allowed to consult items within our library. |

How to obtain help |
Induction and subject classes for new students explain all rules and procedures, and explain the principle of the Document Delivery service. Detailed guidance can always be repeated at our information desks. Library Subject skills sessions can also cover this service in detail. |
Cost (where applicable) |
This service is free; however failure to return items on time may incur fines. As these costs are levied by outside bodies, the penalties for failure to return items can result in significant financial charges, far exceeding the University of Ulster published fines. |
